"Earlier performance based work was generally autobiographical monologue, often in the style of a stand-up. These monologues were punctuated and illustrated by projected backdrops. See some examples here.

The images are from typically 20-30 min performances including 'Space' (1994) 'A man with Guts' (1995) and 'A Border Worrier' (commissioned for the 1997 Dublin Theatre Festival). The Artist himself features in most of the images which sometimes utilize old family photos. Fellow northerner and Artist Sean Hillen did much of the photoshop work and took many of the photographs for John during this period."
